There she stands,
Belongs,
Enlivened
By the land
That mountains birthed,
And the knowledge
Of the power
That she holds
Through Mother Earth.

Norway fjord
Smooth as glass
Flowing cold
Through mountains’ pass.

In a while
There will be all colors
Of the rainbow
And then some
More.
In a while
There will be radiant
Greens and sunny yellows
And all the different
Shades of
Purple
To show.
In a while
The monochrome of winter
Will make way for
Brightly colored
Spring
To make eyes and hearts
Glow.

In the depth
Of the winter,
Where so much
Appears dead,
Plan ahead.
For there are places
Where nature,
Finally rain fed,
Blooms into
Fields
Of red.

In the slight pause between
Flapping up,
Flapping down,
Live the breath
And the lift
That propel
To carry on.

Oh, for you never know
All the places you’d go,
Where the islands rise up
Far away from the shore,
And you end every day
Dreaming of seeing more.

Deep in ocean
She greets you
With palms pressed
In hello,
As you marvel
The glory
Of rocks carved
By time’s flow,
And the riches
Half-hidden
In turquoise waters
Below.
Note: “Sawatdi-kah” is the female form (said by females) of Thai greeting, often along with a “Wai” (a slight bow with palms pressed together).

Pink fuzz lit
In the sun
Hirsute stem
Brushing ground
Rising up
Set to stun.

Polite tree
Clearing branches
Away from the path,
To let climbers pass by
For a one-sided
Hug.

The more determined then I am
To point the beauty that surrounds,
The heart and kindness that abound
And the true peace that won’t succumb.
