In Contrast

The days stretch on

In sun and shade,

Highlighting the contrast

To the lifespan of

A butterfly,

Its new wings splayed

In the warmth

To dry.

And I wonder

What the ancient rock thinks,

In contrast,

Of the human

Lifespan

Fleeting by.

Rain Fed Red

In the depth

Of the winter,

Where so much

Appears dead,

Plan ahead.

For there are places

Where nature,

Finally rain fed,

Blooms into

Fields

Of red.

On a fence

In the city

Under balconies

To the sky,

Climbs a purple

Bunch of

Pretty,

A tangled riot

Reaching high.

Blue Ghost

A blue ghost

Found its way

To the front

Of this porch.

‘Fraid of heights

It clings tight

To the spout

And flower pots.

Not So Hidden

Grandpa you can’t

See me hidden

In my batman cave,

But try to find me:

There’s a world

To save.

It was down

To the wire

To find glorious

A perch,

As the skies

Drew around them

A gray dome

As church.
