The little lamp
Refused to go.
Morning or no
It dug its toe
And held on glowing
In the snow.

To the fingers of winter
That are still
Gripping hold:
You have done all you could
To prevail with the cold
But it’s time
To move on
Summer’s soon
You’ve been warned …

It is not real betrayal
To have hearts
Speak their mind.
Let the windows to you
Be the ones
You unbind.

The infinitesimal
May grow
To be
Bigger than you
Now know
To see.

What’s a view
To you?
Memories of times
Long gone
Askew?
The roads since traveled
But still
Due?
The sights you did not know
You will one day reclaim
Anew?
What is a view
To you?
This post is dedicated to memories of all childhoods and sunsets, times gentle and not, and to Frank’s beloved pooch, Ransom.

Harbingers of feast
Or famine
Inhabitants
Of all
But the Antarctic ice,
These carriers of fire
From the gods to land,
Teach city folk
And country dwellers
That one can make a home,
Find plenty,
All around.

Do not shy
Away
From
Showing up today.
Your voice is heard.
Your presence, too.
Faceless in the crowd
You are still
The only
You.

There’s no place quite like it
And yet it’s more place than one
Where the surf breathes the ocean
Onto bare feet and sand.

We all want to be cherished,
To be known by our name.
But like flowers in meadows,
We’re alike, not the same.
It does not do to lump us
Identical, in one frame.
For like leaves of a tree,
We’re alike, not the same.
Varied hopes, many wishes,
Different dreams of acclaim.
Like the shells on a shore,
We’re alike, not the same.
Each of us has the power,
To bring hope or bring shame.
Pick just one of us too early,
And the world’s never the same.
