Never Closed

Shuttered windows did not

Matter,

For all who lacked knew that

The door remained unlatched

The rusty locks, unfastened,

To let the needy enter

And rest their weary heads

Within,

Their huddled warmth

Steadfast in lieu of

Hearth,

Never closed from

The ancient inn.

It has come to her before.

The message that had felt like lore

And made a home

Inside her core.

It ricocheted in her heart

Amidst the four walls

Of her soul.

Her spirit knew it,

And therefore,

She left her door open

For more.

May You Be Jolted

love revolution

May you be jolted into awareness.

May your heart slide ajar to the world.

May you see with kind eyes.

May your love shake

The very foundations

Of soul.

May your spirit thrust wisdom

Of long known compassion

Into all that you are

And all that can join you

At the core of the call

To be more,

To be all,

To be whole.

Love Mothers

mother

To all the mothers

And all who mother:

Happy Mother’s Day.

To all who listen, hold, support,

Who remember the small things that matter

Who kiss the hurts

Hug the sorrows,

Who shine with pride and

Cheer the loudest as they

Clap delight:

Happy Mother’s Day.

To those who raise from babies

or late childhood

or adulthood.

To those who foster safety

Where none was before.

To those who make a home

For hours, days, a week, a life time

And write upon the slate of heart to let one know

That to be mothered, is to be loved:

Happy Mother’s Day.

To all the mothers

Biological, adoptive, temporary or forever

To all who open hearts to others

Just because they know

That love can mother

And that mothering

Can heal

And so they do:

Happy Mother’s Day.

And may you be loved

And mothered,

Too.
