Father Kindness

fathering

Be a father to the vulnerable

Guide the path of those who need

A lift

A helping hand.

Be a father to those seeking

To find shelter

Who need help to

Understand.

Show the way.

Provide

Kind counsel.

If by biology or presence

Be the best

Model

You can.

For it is by kindness

That fathering

Takes hold

And

Grows children

Strong

In body, heart

And mind.

Be in the Pink

Storycubes1

If your heart groans

Under worry

And your belly

Plays acid songs,

Don’t despair:

Life’s still there.

If your head spins

With confusion

In realities

Beyond compare,

Don’t give up:

There’s repair.

If your muscles

Clench with anger

And anxiety

Sheds your hair,

Don’t give in

To what’s not fair.

If your color

Lost its luster

And your spirit’s

Pale and bare,

Don’t lose heart:

We’ve hope to spare.

If the dark nights

Press your innards

And your lungs

Beg for calm air,

Don’t forget:

Love’s everywhere.

Be Uncovered

lamps light rumi

May the heart of life be open

To the light

And may the truth of human

Goodness

Be uncovered.

May false layers

Of defended animosity

Peel away the

Pretended differences

And empty superiorities

That aim to keep

Empathy

From taking hold.

May the heart of love

Be open.

May humanity find way

To the universally

Innate

Imperative

Unending

Veracity

Of hope.

Panic’s Anti-Dote

anti-dote

There’s scare aplenty

Wide cause for alarm

A lot to frown at

Much that charters harm.

No wonder

Panic comes.

Trepidation pushes buttons of old worries

Latches through the tentacles

Of history

And ill-used charm.

It glitters daggers

Into

Masquerading stars and sun.

No wonder

Panic comes.

And yet …

Be brave

Stand firm

Lock arms

Form links

Knit facts

Raise voice

Weave hope

As panic’s anti-dote.

Breathe in

Breathe in the scent of spring

The fragrance of new growth

Of verdant leaves

Of rain

Of flowers.

Let new life fill your lungs

Your heart

With light

Perfumed by sun

And sky

And sudden showers.

Breathe in your fill

Of hope

Of splendor

Stock up your mind

With awe

To brighten

Any dreary hour.

See Through

Not all that shows outside, is what may be within.

Not all reflection knows the spirit

Light or dark or dim.

Be kind to those whose face is blank.

Be kind to those whose face speaks more.

You never know

The depth of life

That simmers, yearns, below.

May You Be Jolted

love revolution

May you be jolted into awareness.

May your heart slide ajar to the world.

May you see with kind eyes.

May your love shake

The very foundations

Of soul.

May your spirit thrust wisdom

Of long known compassion

Into all that you are

And all that can join you

At the core of the call

To be more,

To be all,

To be whole.
