To Life

She strained

Against walls which

Heaved

About her.

She tensed limbs and

Tucked her

Chin

Fighting for a

Purchase

Around her.

And still the world

Convulsed.

Impossible in

Pressure.

Till sudden

Light.

A gasp of cold

As air

Rushed

Into lungs

To life her.

Let the power

Of breath

Churn the air

Fill the earth.

Let the wind

Fill your sails

As you learn

To exhale.

Let the future

Flow clear

And may hope

Draw you near.

Solitary Call

If you heed

Your heart’s need

To silence

The fretting discord

That bestrewed your soul,

You’ll hear

The gentle chime

Of each breath

Reverberating

Its solitary call.

Life can happen in the shallows

Of the day to day

In the ebb and flow

Of small steps

On wet sand

Of tidy tides

And ripples

Lapping breaths

And sighs

Of surf.

A Moment in Time

Atara Katz - a moment in time

A moment in time (Photo: Atara Katz)

In the pause

Between the breath in

And breath out

There’s a moment

In time

Of

Eternity

Slowed,

All movements

Frozen,

Thawed,

Life

Buoyed.

Breath of Space

Take a breath in the streaming rays

Feel the light fill up your days

Know the sun

The dappled warmth

Sense the earth supporting

verdant growth

Hear the wind whisper stories to the grass, the fronds, the palms

and

Find the space that holds your heart inside your calm.

The Breath of Waves

100_0227

Let the breathing of the surf clear through you

all the pebbles of despair

or grief.

Let the breathing of the surf refill you

with the rhythm of creation

and relief.

Let the breath of waves remind you

how your own heart beats one in

one out,

to allow the good to flow within you

and the ugly

to retreat

no more about.

Today, be Still

Today,

find a point of stillness:

brief, but precious

slight, but full

small, but luminously real.

Find a point stillness

in the balance of all things

between the breathing out

and breathing in.

stillness
