Have Mercy

Have mercy

For those who have not

For those who don’t know how

And weren’t taught.

Have mercy

For your own lost corners

Where the words of others

Might’ve carved a hole

That is yet to get darned

And still exacts a toll.

Have mercy

For your

Need to hope

You’d make your

Spirit

Whole.

Strut What?

Ethiopia12 DvoraFreedman

Give a hand

Put a stop.

Help the weak

To step up.

See beyond

Outward bluff.

For in the race

To strut stuff,

Truth is often

Enough.

Dance Gingerly

Nicaragua1 InbarAsif

Dance gingerly into the hearts

Of others.

They are the home

Of someone’s soul.

Dance delicately

In the space

That is between

Yourself

And others.

Dance gently ever more

Inside your own.

Believe

Believe we can.

Believe we will.

Believe the way is there

Still,

To achieve.

Believe good lasts.

Believe hearts care.

Believe compassion

Matters,

Everywhere.

No Vacancy

baby-pics.tumblr

Deny hate a room

In your heart

Anywhere.

Fill it instead

With soul truths:

The sweet breath

Of infants

Asleep against your chest.

Does not differentiate

Who is worthy of care.

Deny hate a room.

Allow compassion

Instead

To take hold

Everywhere.

Time To Launch

NewZealand10 InbarAsif

Time to launch

Growth spurts of kindness.

Time to set sail

Onto good.

Time to commence

Paths of compassion,

To pitch a better course,

Away from shoals

Of crass and

Greed

Toward a truer way

To heal, succeed, and

Lead.

Pamper Someone Today

Pamper someone

Today.

Cosset Mother Earth, and

Attend with care

To all her beings.

Indulge your loved ones, and

See to those who hurt.

Let others see to you.

Pamper someone

Today.

You will spoil nothing

By offering a plenty

In kindness

To others

And to you.

Sorrow and Hope

Red AmitaiAsif

Like pebbles on the beach

Like grains of sand

Like leaves upon the trees

Like flowers in a meadow

May we never be alone

In sorrow

And in hope.

May we find solace

In each other

And may compassion

Weave heart strands together

So we remember

How alike we are

Each one its own true flower

Each one part of the whole

In sorrow

And in hope.

A Tribute in Light

Tribute in Light DOD public domain

Tribute in Light — Photo: DOD

On the eve of 9/11

In this city that has been forever changed

As it had its core humanity

Revealed

In uncountable acts of kindness

Under devastation,

I revisit

The day

The sky grew dark

With smoke

And hearts broke open

With compassion.

Hold up those who are too small

So they, too, can have a view

And visibility.

Hoist up those who are too timid

Or are silenced

So they, too, can have a voice

And secure platform.

Elevate the discourse

On behalf of those

Who had forgotten

Or had become accustomed

To degraded declarations,

And so can use a gentle template

How.

Offer a hand to those most in need

Of a perspective

So they may see

Broader horizons

For understanding

Not just might

But heart and mind.
