Tucked In

The voice of song

Lulled her to sleep

As wind whispered

Leaves into heaps.

Her mind soared on

A night’s journey’s sweep

As breathing slowed

And memories steeped.

Her body warm neath

Blankets soft and deep,

She sighed and found

A dream to keep.

Together

They walked through fields

Of  heather

Seeking remedy

For those

Soon to be together,

Gathering the makings

Of the broom

They’d use

To sweep away their

Woes.

He copied how his father walked.

He mimicked his older sister.

He laughed at jokes nobody heard.

He scared the babysitter.

He wouldn’t do a thing

That wasn’t done by others.

He was an endless mirror

And annoyance to his brothers.

He drove them all to near insane

Till finally came the time

When he left to get

Hired as a mime.

Skyward

(Photo: Na’ama Yehuda)

They rose in steady hum of

Motors aiming to break

Clouds

And dispersed the waves upon the

Sand as life skittered

Aground.

They pointed nose into the

Sky with souls holding on well

And fast

As engines revved anew

And headed home

At last.

Megalithic

notorious-rbg-exhibit-838x1024

A hummingbird in statute, but a

Megalith of

Hope and

Strength and

Notorious

Mother Earth energy.

Decency incarnate,

Filled with

Determination and

True strength,

She endured

Beyond endurance,

And inspired

Beyond hope,

And will still,

For her legacy shall

Hold.

A real-life super-woman

Even as she was

Super

Human.

Still Summer

(Photo by Sam Marx on Unsplash)

It seems as though you are still summer:

The leaves still green atop your trees

Waves still warm inside your eyes

Sunrise haze in your sky

Sunset late to bed

As sleep lights in

Your soft breath

Upon

Mine.

Where She Lies

Where the green grass ends

And the ocean grows

Is where she lies

And listens

To the crabs

As they crawl

And the fish

As they flutter

And the wind

As it lifts the

Wings of

Sandpipers

And spins

Seashells

On the sand.
