In Memorial

As salutes recoil

And bugles call

May hearts recall

The arms emptied

And the lives ended

For freedoms defended

As sorrows entwine

With honor defined.

Deplete Hate

Let us deplete

The harm

The hate

So more room’s left

To tolerate

The differences

We may create

As we attempt

To integrate

Beliefs well overdue

Update.

Glaring Dare

In the midst of what glares

Too-hot stares

Reckless dares

Everywhere,

Find a moment to spare

Take a breath, be aware

Of the beauty

The air

And the hope

That we share

If we care

To embrace all that’s there

And declare

No despair

As we pledge

No warfare

And instead

Seek repair.

Do Not Be Silenced

The Childrens Holocaust Memorial Yad Vashem
The Children’s Memorial, Yad Vashem

In remembrance of times

Of horror

Never to repeat

Never to minimize:

Do not shy

Of voice

Do not shy

Of fact

Do not shy

Of holding truth

To challenge

Those who in their blindness,

In their hunger to cause pain,

Seek to deny

The cost of hate

The force of harm

The voice of those who had been silenced.

Do not be silenced.

Be brave.

Walk tall.

Remember:

Those who seek to silence

To zip history closed

To limit learning,

Can only do so

If they make you forget

The truth

Entrusted to you — to all of us —

By those who’d perished

And those who’d managed

To survive.

Deep Down, There is No Difference

each other

Because a baby

born

is all human potential

bundled

into hope.

Because a smile of open joy

is recognizable

without the understanding

of a single word.

Because the tears of pain

bleed heartache in all languages.

Because no outward space

or god or faith

bestows on some

more air to breathe

or right to love

and caring growth

than to the babies of others.

Because indeed

deep down

and in all the places that matter

there is

no difference.

In Memoriam to The Fallen

memorial candle flag

yom-hazikaron-memorial-day-

In this evening and upcoming day of Memorial

As Israel remembers its fallen

As parents, siblings, loved ones weep and mourn:

Let it be the last day of new pain

Let there be

Please, oh God

No more war.

Anywhere.

No more dead, no more graves

No more maimed

No more grieving.

Let the bloodshed be ended.

Let the warmongering cease.

Let those who entice pain, find ways of words.

Let those who live hate, open hearts, make new doors.

There’s a way.

No more war.

We’re all people.

All someone’s baby, sibling, loved one, neighbor, friend

We all share more than what can divide us

We all hurt, love, hope, bleed.

No more violence.

There is no need.

Let there be

Hearts that open

Light to hold, hope to share, peace to mold.

Let there be

No more war.

As we weep for the fallen

As we remember what happened and wished that did not

As we tally the terrible price

The unnecessary ripping

Every death, every wounding

Agonises an ache in our hearts

A hole in our souls

Let there be

From now on

No more war.

peace can do better

no more war
