To Be Home

To be home

Where the sun kisses

Blooms

On the sly,

And the buildings cannot

Hide reflections

Of sky,

Where new life bursts on forth

Undeterred

Joy unmasked,

And this moment

Outdoors

Is almost all one

Can ask.

The Now And There

Distant Stairs NaamaYehuda

Photo: Na’ama Yehuda

In the distance between

The now and

There,

Rises the stair

We all must

Share,

Step by step to

Anywhere

Before the future days

Declare,

The distance we

May finally

Repair.

Windows On Display

On display NaamaYehuda

His artwork,

Carefully crafted by

Little fingers

And a big

Heart,

Proudly on display

At the family’s

Living room,

Like any well deserving

Art.

Note: This is one of a series of creations by my nephew, who was about 7-8 years old when he crafted this and other lovely depictions in modeling clay 3D art.

Cold Recalled

April Snow NaamaYehuda

Photo: Na’ama Yehuda

I remember

Past winter

Of old,

There was light

Shining warmth

In the cold.

I recall spring’s

Late blanket

White bold,

Under lamps’

Glow of soft

Molten gold.

In Waiting

Waiting hat NaamaYehuda

Photo: Na’ama Yehuda

I am waiting for you

To come back.

To grab hold

And place me

Against your forehead,

As you adjust the strap.

I am waiting

For you

To return

From where you’d left me

Behind

Or forgot

I might yearn

To be perched

On your brow

Holding firm

Against burn.

Moody Monochrome

Central park monochrome NaamaYehuda

Photo: Na’ama Yehuda

Too soon the colors

Blazing on the trees

And paths

And drains

And roofs of cars

Would calm,

And ground

And street

And city parks

Will match the clouds in

Moody monochrome.

In Two’s Company

Foliage duo NaamaYehuda

Photo: Na’ama Yehuda

They stand together

Fully dressed

Their branches interlaced.

The streetlight hugged between them

Like a child

Held in embrace.

Note: all year long these two trees appear almost indistinguishable. Then comes foliage … and with it a different kind of double take for the glory people see.

Wild Places

Find wild places inside your

Self,

Where vistas stretch

Your heart.

Climb peaks you did not know

Exist.

Let freedom

Joy impart.

In The Elements

Nail it AmitaiAsif

Blessed be the heat

Of fire

Fed by wood

That held on

To the driven strength of home.

Let air

Breathe through

The flames

That will allow warmth

To the water

While the earth

Hammocks your body

And your eyes

Address heaven’s stairs.

A Delicate Dare

Delicate NaamaYehuda

Photo: Na’ama Yehuda

Their small heads

Rise proud

In mid-trail.

Delicate and fierce

They stretch their

Full miniature scale.

The risk they take

Of being

Stepped on,

Dwarfed by delicious

Access

To sun.
