They stand together
Fully dressed
Their branches interlaced.
The streetlight hugged between them
Like a child
Held in embrace.
Note: all year long these two trees appear almost indistinguishable. Then comes foliage … and with it a different kind of double take for the glory people see.

These are such incredibly vivid colours. It’s not we don’t get those colours in UK, just they tend to be more the *accent* than the main scheme. 🙂

Yes, we get very dramatically vivid colors here in the Eastern US. Very very beautiful! I put even more photos on Instagram (which I just joined last week, so I’m a novice on…). It is stunning every year!

It makes my part of the world look drab in comparison.

Drab? Not sure I’d say that about the spectacular greens of spring! 🙂

Agreed on that. But I was referring to this time of year when the trees are clothed in dusty, faded foliage, colour slowly sucked from it, to wither and fall.

Ah, I hear you … yes, we do tend to go all out in the foliage department, here on the North American Eastern Seaboard. 🙂

Wow, that is amazing. I love your note that they look identical until the fall foliage shows their dramatic difference!

Thank you, Amy! I love this photo, too! It is right around the block from me, and the beauty of these trees (w/ their baby lamppost…) is just delicious. Thank you for reading and commenting!
