Differentiate Defiance

Differentiate the urge

To disobey

For pure defiance’s sake,

From the value of resisting

Those who violate

Or lower what’s at stake.

Refuse the rush

Of righteousness

That rebellions can wake,

And replace it with the strength

Of discerning hate from kindness,

Truth from fake.

Infinitely Finite

Within the infinite expanse

So immeasurably borderless

In perpetual ebb

And flow

And breath

And glow,

There hides

The implausible

Yet glaringly finite

Reality

That it too

Is delimited

By wind

And storm

And distant shores.

Hold up those who are too small

So they, too, can have a view

And visibility.

Hoist up those who are too timid

Or are silenced

So they, too, can have a voice

And secure platform.

Elevate the discourse

On behalf of those

Who had forgotten

Or had become accustomed

To degraded declarations,

And so can use a gentle template

How.

Offer a hand to those most in need

Of a perspective

So they may see

Broader horizons

For understanding

Not just might

But heart and mind.

In The Balance

As tensions hold

The edge

Between manageable

And overwhelmed,

Between spared

And flooded,

Be tender.

As scales tip

To potentiate

Disaster

And fluctuate

From safe

To calamitous,

Be kind.

Remember how

Critical times

Hold within them

The balance

Of rebuilding

On the fabric of

Strength

And profound

Understanding.

The Words

Recite the words you want to hear

Those your heart dreams to

Follow

Recite the words your soul still seeks

The ones that soothe

A sorrow

Recite the words you know are true

They will bring forth

Tomorrow.

Grain of The Past

May the grain of the past

Tell the story.

May history speak

Of the truth

That must

Never be buried

Like heads in the sand,

Or in hesitant voices

That won’t take a stand.

May the stain of the past

Be the guide to these times

So no alleged ‘fine men’

Torch-lit hate in the night

Once again propagate

Let return

Evil’s blight.

Willy-Nilly Trouble

When the world appears to lose an axis

And takes a haphazardly dive toward a

Wannabe regime,

It is high time to hold steady

And unequivocally confirm,

That racist hate and violence

Reflect the morally infirm

While equality and compassion

Are what’s truly supreme.
