I remember
Past winter
Of old,
There was light
Shining warmth
In the cold.
I recall spring’s
Late blanket
White bold,
Under lamps’
Glow of soft
Molten gold.

There’s a serene kind
Of beauty
Not far into the
Park,
Where the geese,
Quite majestic,
Will parade and then
Park.

Yellowed gold
Touching white
Lighting day
Glinting night.
Perfect fingers
Splayed bold
Last hurrah
Before cold.

Too soon the colors
Blazing on the trees
And paths
And drains
And roofs of cars
Would calm,
And ground
And street
And city parks
Will match the clouds in
Moody monochrome.

They stand together
Fully dressed
Their branches interlaced.
The streetlight hugged between them
Like a child
Held in embrace.
Note: all year long these two trees appear almost indistinguishable. Then comes foliage … and with it a different kind of double take for the glory people see.

Ringed by the City’s
Towering scape
The reservoir
Invites a pause,
A breath of calm
Escape.

Gather ’round the rocks
As daylight lingers
Onto land,
And sunlight’s fingers
Tickle children
In windowed shade
And sun.
Gather ’round the City’s park
To frolic
As Spring comes,
And as the promise
Of green growth
Comes closer
Dawn by dawn.
(While today is the Spring Equinox, the photo itself is more promise than reality … for the trees in Central Park are yet to bud and green, but soon they will … and so the photo holds a sight near to be seen …)

Hello there,
How are you, Ma’am?
I’ve missed a spot?
Oh well, oh damn.
There’s no perfection
On the lam
And I’ve really
Got to scram.
Have you seen some
Elves around?
I’ve been told to
Look for rainbows
At the end of
Traffic jams,
(And yes, I know the
Gold’s a scam
But I’ll still give it
An exam).

‘Round the spire
And the bells peal

As the sky paints blue
