To Life

She strained

Against walls which

Heaved

About her.

She tensed limbs and

Tucked her

Chin

Fighting for a

Purchase

Around her.

And still the world

Convulsed.

Impossible in

Pressure.

Till sudden

Light.

A gasp of cold

As air

Rushed

Into lungs

To life her.

They would have gladly helped.

If he had let them.

If only he had found

The key

To what his dreams

Put forth.

If only he had known

How to identify

What were so many

Opened doors.

Instead, they watched,

Helplessly muted

To his ears,

As he fumbled,

Lost,

Amidst a maze of what

Were to him

Opaque,

Endless,

Walls.

Their lifelines loose,

Adrift

In the current

Of his

Half-formed

Words.

Rise to seek the freedom

In the air above the

Obstacle.

Find clearing that will give you

Path to pass

Beyond

The fence.

Learn the code that holds

The keys to better

Places.

Then you can let worries of

Shattered spaces

Lift,

And release the latch from fear

To what will let you

Step openly

Away.

The Cost

fired casings

Assay the cost of

Apathetic heads

Or cheeks that turn

Again

The other way.

Know the high price of

Silence that

Lets massacre

Take hold for yet

Another day.

Do not give in.

Do not let up.

Step forth

And raise your voice

In truth

So it rings clear

Above the fray.
