She strained
Against walls which
Heaved
About her.
She tensed limbs and
Tucked her
Chin
Fighting for a
Purchase
Around her.
And still the world
Convulsed.
Impossible in
Pressure.
Till sudden
Light.
A gasp of cold
As air
Rushed
Into lungs
To life her.
For dVerse quadrille poetry challenge of: gasp in 44 words
A lovely description of birth, my friend.

Thank you, my friend! I mean, I did this from experience, ya know. Been there, done that, rode that ride, wore the onesie … 😉

LOL, ya only THINK you don’t remember it … I mean, not that I can blame ya … 😉

You’ve a point. My mother said I was almost three weeks late and my skin was all dry and flakey = all coz I was in no rush to leave that cozy womb 😀

Ah, I was boringly on time and reportedly came out fairly non-dramatically. By being very much not the firstborn, I had my way paved, to be fair, by some before me … 😀

Ah yes. I was the firstborn so… There are benefits to having the slide, pre-slid.

Eeezatly. I made sure there were several who worked on it first. I just came along like a diva on a highway. 😉

Good to see you here! I enjoyed this perspective from the baby being born (and the comments between you and Dale). 🙂

🙂 Thanks, Merril! (I added you an extra L yesterday, you know, so you have it for a spare in case the one L gets tired standing the whole time … ;))

You’re welcome. 😊
I probably have a room full of extra “L’s!” But I imagine your name gets some interesting spellings, too.

Yep, it sure does … one of them is that I’ve been “Norma” more times than I care to remember (though thankfully, I’ve known a very very very kind Norma, so that’s a good association for me …).

I’ll be honest–I’m not certain how to pronounce your name, though I know it’s not Norma. 🙂

Is okay. I’m all for creativity in people. 😉 However one manages to pronounce my name, it is okay. As long as they are being NICE to me … 😉

I know I was there, but I recall none of it. Certainly, a long time ago in a city far away.
Now well into the second half of this short journey.
A wonderful poem, Na’ama. Well executed and delivered. 🙂

🙂 Glad you liked it! It’s a path we all take, one way or another, to be here! 🙂
