In These Hands

In these hands

Is held the future,

Made of blooms

That kept their oath.

In these hands

Is held the fruit of

Sun’s long labor,

Fed by rain

And nature’s growth.

In these hands

Is cupped the sweet taste

Of confection,

And the marvel

That is bounty

And is beauty

And is both.

Row Ahead

Row ahead

On the water

Toward shores

Yet to tread.

Hold on to

Oars that matter

To kind oaths

You have pledged.

Row abreast

With the others

Who ride forth

On life’s thread.

Don’t Tantalize

If you have in hand a carrot

Dangle it not

Before the starved.

If you hold a drink of water

Don’t spill it in view

Of thirsty who don’t have.

Power doesn’t lie

In tormenting the helpless.

Do not dishonor justice

Whilst children beg for salve.

Flavorful Blessing

May the taste of life’s adventures

Be as varied

And as flavorful

As its promises,

And may sweet embellishments

Prove to be

A lot more than

Simply icing.
