Everything

(Photo: Inbar Asif)

It was everything

To her

To tend the naked vines that sprawled

Across her soul,

And through the long cold

Winter

To let the sun pour

Over

The sprawling expanse of not-yet-sweetness,

As she hoped

And prayed

For fruit

Ripening amidst abundance

Into wine.

In These Hands

In these hands

Is held the future,

Made of blooms

That kept their oath.

In these hands

Is held the fruit of

Sun’s long labor,

Fed by rain

And nature’s growth.

In these hands

Is cupped the sweet taste

Of confection,

And the marvel

That is bounty

And is beauty

And is both.

A nascent blush

Promises

The sweetness

To come

And holds the space

For what is yet

To form.

Pollinate Hope

In the prickliest places

Where the sun blazes hot

And the rain rarely stops

Lays a possible promise

For nectar

And hope.

Summer Scent

Breathe the fragrance of summer

Smell the sun ripened fruit

Born of

Hard work

Long daylight

And the miraculous growth

From a green, tender shoot.
