Light reflects
Days to nights
As old times
Watch new heights.
Ancient stone
Understands
Stories fought
Upon sands.
Waves recall
Rise and fall
Of the ebb
And the flow
Of times come
And times go.

There are whispers
In the Ether,
Toxic stories meant
For loss of hope.
They are phantoms.
Do not listen as
Malignant news
Grabs scope.
Find instead
The breath of valor.
Seek the children,
Help them cope.
Hold up truth,
Unfurl your kindness
To withstand
Slithery slopes.

Hold on close
To the hope
Even if
It is a bit
Tired.
So no matter the noise
Distraction desires,
Hope remains warmed
In soul
Where truth never
Expires.

I would rather be joyful
I’d rather hold hope.
I’d rather find rainbows
(Won’t dismiss pots of gold).
I’d rather know light
In the dawn
In the dusk,
Feel the song of the earth
As it peals in my heart.

Provoking change
Need not mean
Torment or insult.
Better growth is
To be had:
Evoke hope.
Inspire trust.
Kindle progress.
Proffer light.

When life turns back onto itself
When flow seems stalled
Or slogs to mud
Hope still remains
A promise curled in gathered clouds
For though they hide the current sun
They still meander
Toward a future
Of fertile streams
To guard.

Congregate
Around the things that matter:
The hopes of young
To grow old
Without being gunned down
By hate long fed.
The voices that have gone
Unheard
By overwhelming glower
And will no more be silenced
By greed or dread.
Congregate
Around those who stand proud
To challenge unjust power.
It is the coming together
Which will pave
New roads
For change.

Conjure hope
From odd bits
Of despair.
Recall the magic
Of compassion
Summoned from thin air.
Remember how small light
Brightens
Everywhere.

Central Park, NYC
Deep in mid-winter’s
Cold, bare
Blues
Remember all the
Rich potential
Soon to spring
Profusely
Forth.
