Silly Billy

Silly Billy was too chilly

So he too a little nap.

Silly Billy did not really

Think it would cause him mishap.

Frilly Tilly woke him shrilly

And with very little slack,

Sent him home and told poor Billy

That he isn’t welcome back.

Frazzle Dazzle

She refused to stop her fretting.

He could not get her

To relax.

She was adamant the world

Was ending,

That they were about to breathe

Their last.

Nothing he did could

Distract her.

Not the honey.

Not the charm.

She was frazzled,

And he should have known

To not try

Bedazzling

To disarm.

Central Park, New York City

Where waters tide

‘Round canyons

Carved by time

And ice,

Other canyons

Rise

Man-made

To tickle skies.

Where greenery

Respite to

Millions

Provides,

Sleep memories

Of others

Who used to there

Reside.

Where footfalls mask

The horns of cars

And rustles hold

More sway,

There breathes the city

That like me

Many call home

Today.

No Quarter

She would give him no quarter.

Heed no pleas or demands.

He will have to obey.

It was how it was done.

No experience? No matter.

He will not fall

Behind!

First the tasks,

Then the chores

And more lessons to mind.

Math and science

Books and rhymes.

This was school,

Not play time!

To Be Home

To be home

Where the sun kisses

Blooms

On the sly,

And the buildings cannot

Hide reflections

Of sky,

Where new life bursts on forth

Undeterred

Joy unmasked,

And this moment

Outdoors

Is almost all one

Can ask.

Blue Earth

Blue Earth NaamaYehuda

On this Earth Day

As we are all

One,

Cooped in

Holding on,

Blue around the fingertips

Blue around the lips,

Blue in oceans, and

In the reflections of the deep,

Blue in sorrow

Blue as sky lift

Dark sapphire

To the reified aqua

Of hope.

May we rise

Like the sun,

And not forget how

We can

Help each other

Cope.

Her Heart Be Known

She did not know how

To have her heart

Be known,

Other than to

Let her spirit

Be flush with

Hope,

And to allow her

Soul to

Blush bright

With the

Intent,

Even if

Her words paused,

Timid,

From the moment

She’d left

Home.
