Shuttered windows did not
Matter,
For all who lacked knew that
The door remained unlatched
The rusty locks, unfastened,
To let the needy enter
And rest their weary heads
Within,
Their huddled warmth
Steadfast in lieu of
Hearth,
Never closed from
The ancient inn.

So good. So very good.

I love this. Reminds me of “secret” places to stay on the gringo trail back when I was traveling. I had all these maps and notes of how to access places where the doors remained unlatched. Thanks for taking me back to some great days.

Often most needed, for the ones who are most vulnerable, yes …

It will be a wonderful thing when we hear that doors can be left open for visiting.

Yes, isn’t it? I think we all need to know there are places we’d be welcome, and that there are those who’d leave a door open so we can find a place to rest, and where we can leave a door open for others, too, as possible.

Hopefully sooner than later. My heart goes out to people who are alone with nowhere to go.

Indeed, it is a heartbreak that there are those who have to exist this way, where there is enough for all of us, and should be.
