When someone needs,
May you be there
May you be with.
When it is you who needs,
May someone be there for you
To be with.

In a world
Where tyrants gobble power
By cruel dominance,
There whispers also
The small voice
Of kind-souled cognizance.
With hands that hold the weak
And hearts that see
The sorrow,
They will become the light by which
We’ll write a new tomorrow.

How does time spiral on itself
Even as it unfolds to expand
Outwards?
How do the faces that your mind recalls
Rekindle scenes that take you
Backwards?
And how do those refill your hand
With all of what you’re working
Towards?
Maybe it is all as it should
As long as tender hearts reflect their kindness
Onwards.

There is no need to bludgeon
To clobber
To hammer it home.
Butting heads is cathartic
But leaves no one informed.
Get points across kindly
For effective reform.

Reach out to those frozen
In the ill at ease place
Of unfamiliar
Meeting known.
Note the edge of green
On those still a tad tender
Around the social gills.
A kind word can steady
Many an awkward gait
Upon fiddly ice
Still awaiting to break.

It can spread.
It can blight.
It can seek a new host
To infect
With malaise.
But the ill
Need not creep
Onto me
Onto thy.
We can rise
Above rudeness.
Inoculate
Against hate.
We can choose to
Remain
Stubbornly
Humane.

We may be called,
And especially
In times of turmoil,
To bestow
More light
Than woe.
It may be necessary
To bequeath
To awe
Over righteousness.
To confer,
With our own footsteps,
The high road
Not the low.

Live your life
Alongside
Everything
That matters.
Let light flow
In lines parallel
To heart
And mind.
We are all of us
One of a kind,
All singular
In presence.
Yet we are none of us
An isolation,
None free from impact
On what there is
And all that will become.
May we ride
This shared Earth
Side by side.
May we align
Our spirit
To be
Kind.

Be candid
But kind.
Speak your truth
With open mind.
Give no value
To harm.
Be mindful.
Keep calm.

Be brilliantly
Kind.
Seek radiant
Empathy.
Hone skillful
Gentleness.
Define luminous
Compassion.
