Come on Sis

Let us peek

Through the slats

On this bridge

At the world

That flows through

Underneath

Me and you.

There’s a very pink

Elephant on the sidewalk

With nail polish

Half done.

Children stare

Babies point

But many others walk on.

As in many a living room

Where elephants silently stand,

Perhaps New York City adults

Aren’t easily stunned.

Pink Perch

A pink perch

For the flutter

A brief pause

On the fly

For the moment

That lapses

As a breath

Passes by.

Heart View

As we hold endless heartache

Of scandal, war, crime, abuse

May we also remember

Gentler waves, kinder views;

So the holes rent by hardship

Will not make us refuse

To let pain become a window

To the good we can profuse.

Pink Remembering

Spring recalls

How bushes previously bared

By frost and freeze,

Found a new lease

To bubble forth

A pink exuberance.

It is a good remembering

As fall emerges

To reclaim

The bushes’ leaves

Ahead of winter’s

Naked sleep.

As night

Folds wings

Of gray,

Pink sky

Herald glory

Of today.

For the September Squares and Six Word Saturday challenge

Special thank you to my dear friend Karen Forte, for THIS DAY’s (literally) gorgeous beginning.

Freshly woven

Phuang malai

Made in faith

By the Thai

For good fortune

In Chiang Mai.
