The more chaotic life becomes
With power hungers gaining ground,
The more determined then I am
To point the beauty that surrounds,
The heart and kindness that abound
And the true peace that won’t succumb.

Hold my hand
And we’ll go
Up the hill
As we sow
Seeds of light
For the thrill
Of just watching
You grow.

As the fog masks the path
Take a breath
And hold tight.
May an arrow direct you
To a home
And a hearth.

As the cracked places show
Marks of toil
Disavowed
And the grooves of grain passed
Whisper tales of
Repast
Broken pieces reflect
Wholeness more than
Regret.

As salutes recoil
And bugles call
May hearts recall
The arms emptied
And the lives ended
For freedoms defended
As sorrows entwine
With honor defined.

Now in the antiquated, hollowed space,
Prayers no longer have to brace
Against an aged, leaded grace.
Even as wall and ceiling hold
Cold memories of gilded old
And toil of many, still untold,
Awed orison can freely rise
Released from threat of long demise,
Through open air into the skies.

In golden glow of liquid light
As day transfers
Into the night
We wade to watch the sun
Alight.

In the lineage of eras
Where fossils yet live
Ancestry beyond measure
Offers paths to believe.
Time unfolds on itself
Memories seek a reprieve
As humble roots we all share
Still continue to give.

The green lung of the City
In verdure cape
Blooms anew.
Living room and backyard
It knows just
What to do:
Communal Central Park
Breathing life
Into you.
