As the clouds hurry on
And rare drops
Cease to pound,
Milky puddles remain
Atop pebbles half-drowned.
A liquid lull
Holds its breath
O’er wet loess ground.

It is all as it should be
It is all as it ought
Whether we at the moment realize it
Or not.
When the time seems unripe
Let yourself
Be assured:
What may seem incomplete
Or half-prepared to endure
Is nonetheless just
Perfectly premature.

It can spread.
It can blight.
It can seek a new host
To infect
With malaise.
But the ill
Need not creep
Onto me
Onto thy.
We can rise
Above rudeness.
Inoculate
Against hate.
We can choose to
Remain
Stubbornly
Humane.

Fluid sand
In low tide
Stretch
Lazy
Feathered
Rivers
Of time.

In the lineage of eras
Where fossils yet live
Ancestry beyond measure
Offers paths to believe.
Time unfolds on itself
Memories seek a reprieve
As humble roots we all share
Still continue to give.

In the slight
Slender light
They remained
Holding tight
To the vestige of dusk
In the incoming night.
For The Daily Post
What may seem all
Lopsided
May in fact be
Quite straight,
While what purports to be
Level
May be completely
Bent.

Tree by tree
It becomes.
Acorns
Saplings
Alder
Gum.
Branch by branch
Green and dun.
Creepers
Leaners
Holders on.
A woodland
Is more than its
Sum.

The green lung of the City
In verdure cape
Blooms anew.
Living room and backyard
It knows just
What to do:
Communal Central Park
Breathing life
Into you.

Be a rebel
Today
Against old ways
That no longer
Nourish
And worries
That hold back
The changes
You know
Your soul
Needs.
