He may be a bit eccentric

And his music may be bold,

But his mama will be happy

That his head will not be cold,

That someone is watching over

Just in case he should be told,

That it is time to eat the snack

Before his energy will fold.

They said they made an odd couple.

They said they shouldn’t hold hands.

They said if they stopped for reason,

They would understand.

They said they weren’t compatible.

They said it will never last.

They said a man with a woman

Clash with too much contrast.

They said it was doomed to fail

And should not be allowed.

But they loved one another,

And love should be proud.

There is no need to sneak

Or take the long way around

You’re invited to step on

The green grassy ground.

Such a lovely reminder

That lawns are to be used

It’s a warm friendly offer

That I shall not refuse!

The new piece unfolded in his head during the long flight. The chords danced to the beat of the flickering red light on the airplane’s wing and the turbulence lent base to the melody. It was perfect. He’d have written the notes right there and then had it not been for his propensity to motion sickness. Staring out the window was the only remedy. Sometimes the best inspiration.

“Let it go, let it go!” his daughter’s singing in her room welcomed him home.

And the nascent harmonies obeyed, dispersed, let gone.

She twirls this way and back again

Jingling beads fit for a reign

Tuto flying

Boas, too.

Joyfully bedizened

To wazoo.
