Pink Elephant

Pink Elephant NaamaYehuda (2)

There’s a very pink

Elephant on the sidewalk

With nail polish

Half done.

Children stare

Babies point

But many others walk on.

As in many a living room

Where elephants silently stand,

Perhaps New York City adults

Aren’t easily stunned.

Pink Remembering

Spring recalls

How bushes previously bared

By frost and freeze,

Found a new lease

To bubble forth

A pink exuberance.

It is a good remembering

As fall emerges

To reclaim

The bushes’ leaves

Ahead of winter’s

Naked sleep.
