Old it stretched
Brooding shade
O’er neat furrows made,
Watching new rows reborn
And the greens
Field adorn,
Growing tall, rising now
Making lush, anyhow.

As you rumble along
Under skies
Blue like song,
Do you travel
Afar
To the past
In this car?
What new memories
You’d share
Of what’s found
Over there?
Do days gone
Still speed on
Scene by scene
Gray and green
By the glean
Of your machine?

As one year draws to close
And another gets set to rise,
Take a snapshot of your heart
In its joy and woe alike.
As moments tick toward the new,
Remove blinds from your weary eyes,
And let Soul show you who
You’ve been when you were wise.
It will revisit steps you took
So you can plan the next,
And hold the images of good,
For New Year’s light to reflect.

This dung pie?
Don’t you try.
Ownership
He’ll deny.
He lives here
That is true,
But the poop
Ain’t his do.
He’s a stubborn
Old donkey,
And he’ll blame it
On Wonky.

Decades shut
Behind closed shores
What old stories
Had you told
Of not so distant
Wars?
Weathered by
Time and lore
What future resides
Behind Cuba’s
Sealed doors?

One night when the moon was bright
Elves brought brushes in the night
And they painted till the morn
Stories that the rocks adorn
For the humans to remind
Of what should not be left behind.

The stories told
In windows.
The sound of small feet
Represented
In a princess nightgown
Drying
Sheltered
By other clothing
Under a small awning
Behind
Weathered bars
Bracketed by
An antenna
And a plant.
