In the slight
Slender light
They remained
Holding tight
To the vestige of dusk
In the incoming night.

Be a rebel
Today
Against old ways
That no longer
Nourish
And worries
That hold back
The changes
You know
Your soul
Needs.

May spring’s burble over rocks
Turn rapids
As the flow
Of truth
Speeds forth,
Gains force,
Come fall.

Do not fear
The abrupt edge
Of life
When the path
Disappears
And clefts
Into strife.
Take a breath
Blow out fear
Know a brand new
Adventure
Is immediately
Near.

Make this rivulet
Of hope
Into a river
Of change.
Let a movement
For kindness
And the trickle
Of sooth,
Become a wave
Blue and wide enough
To hold the full depths
Of what should have always been
Self-evident truths.

Even in chaos
Where foul mouths and ill deeds offer little beyond
Spin and mope,
You can find and define many glimmers
Of hope:
In the smiles of a child,
In the buds that push up from a freshly thawed ground,
In expanding delight of inquiring minds,
In the light that reflects from a window just shined,
In the wriggling joy of a pup under hand,
In humanity’s goals that your heart understands,
Your soul now demands,
And your words and your acts and your vote get behind.

Light reflects
Days to nights
As old times
Watch new heights.
Ancient stone
Understands
Stories fought
Upon sands.
Waves recall
Rise and fall
Of the ebb
And the flow
Of times come
And times go.

At the weakened
Frigid hand
Of winter’s last stand,
Nibbles
The warm promise
Of summer sun.

In the winds
Of turmoil,
Hold on tight
Don’t recoil.
For all change,
Churn and roil,
Shapes the earth
Feeds the soil.

Do not shy
Away
From
Showing up today.
Your voice is heard.
Your presence, too.
Faceless in the crowd
You are still
The only
You.
