If you are
Out of shape
Worry none
Worry naught,
For a log’s now
A bench
Where a rest can be
Sought.

In the depths
Where the colors all bleach
To the basics
Of power,
Persistence,
And life;
Lives the unadorned
Underground
Of deep water
Carving canyons
With time’s old
Stubborn knife.

In the city where stairways
And buildings rise high
No surprise that car parks
Also aim for the sky …
Be aware it will take
Some time to dislodge
So it could be a tad tricky
To race out of Dodge…

Wrapping tentative fingers
That become tangled vines
Jungle trees tell the boulder:
“You’re my rock, you are mine.”

Come and play
In the snowdrifts
And the cold
Will not bite
We are warmer
Together
And will sleep well
Tonight.

On the cusp between
The wild
And the
Cultured
Weeds puff heads
Toward incoming
Clouds.

Oh, for you never know
All the places you’d go,
Where the islands rise up
Far away from the shore,
And you end every day
Dreaming of seeing more.

And the waters
Rushed
Over slicked rocks
Into ravines.
Deafening the song
Of birds,
And burbling of
Fish,
Into thunder
Mist
As the bamboo
Creaked.

Walking along
Paths of life,
Stop to sip
Pause to laugh.
Make small moments
Of cool calm,
Find someone
To lean on.
Take a rest
Take the air,
Live well through
Time’s wear and tear.

A look back
To what is a
Near future indeed
When snow will
Again
Take a seat
And winter will
Once more
Repeat.
Note: No filter was used. This was the actual monochrome light on a sudden snowy morning this past April.
