Do not ignore your gut
When it propels you
To speak, to act
To take a stand
And live a truth
Fed by moral fiber
Of empathy
And kindness.
Follow the visceral
Call
To eliminate
In better deeds
The glittery lure of
Hate-swelled
Intimidation
And
Intolerant effluvia.

I love this photo of an upside down house in Europe for its genius and exactness, but also for how it challenges our orientation and leads almost everyone to tilt their head ‘to see it better.’ Are the corners of the ‘roof’ still peaks of gables, or do they now make the bottoms of “V”s? If you look out from these windows, will the world itself be upended? How do we define up from down, right from wrong, vision from illusion? How cemented are our views about what is and what could be? Are we willing to paint ourselves out of the corners of our mind where we’d comfortably assumed we knew all that was to know, only to realize a whole world still awaits in readiness to shake our understanding?

Tickled pink.

Silt and mud, oozy streets
Too much fun
To resist.
Mismatched shoes
Do not blight
Sludgy mushy
Delight.

Unzip yourself from wild-ride news
From tilt-a-whirls of media.
Seek peace amides the reeling waves
Of turmoil and tragedia.
Carve islands of no pitch or roll
So a calm breath can fill ya.

In a trance, you transcend.
Or defend.
Or lose sight.
Use it wisely
Lest you intend
To upend
What should remain
Firm in mind.

Recite the words you want to hear
Those your heart dreams to
Follow
Recite the words your soul still seeks
The ones that soothe
A sorrow
Recite the words you know are true
They will bring forth
Tomorrow.

If you heed
Your heart’s need
To silence
The fretting discord
That bestrewed your soul,
You’ll hear
The gentle chime
Of each breath
Reverberating
Its solitary call.

Light paints day on still waters
Sparkles wavelets of promise
In soft whispers
Mild surf:
Today born.
Rise and shine:
It is morn.
