Take heed where
Out of the blue
Slides a clear
Frozen flue,
Weeping ice
Telling you
That more change
Is in queue.

One cannot head to pasture
On a fine, chilly morn
Without checking to see if
One’s mane’s properly adorned.

Is the duck in the water?
Is the duck in the sky?
Is she swimming to perch
On a roof dunked nearby?
Did the house lean to water
Does the mud, garden make?
Are my eyes seeing mirrors
Is my mind still awake?

If your party is pure happy
And your Mama’s talents
Flow,
There is nothing like a minion
To give your day a mighty
Go.

Under big sky
Amid the sea
Big Buddha shows
The way to be
As people flock
Foreign and Thai
To pray for poise
In Wat Phra Yai.

So she stands in the harbor
Greeting weary souls’ sails.
Her eyes had welcomed
The many
Who fled war, harm, travail.
She faced cannons
Of hardship,
Wept as terror sought
To prevail.
She marks the better
We can be,
The stories nations
Can be proud
To tell.
Through many storms
In the harbor,
She lights the way
In the gale.
As hate now amplifies sorrow
Seeking to see her bounty
Curtailed,
She hopes her pledge ‘cross the ages
Won’t become one made
To no avail.

Silently
Night retraced
Steps across
Dawn’s new ledge
As the dark
Slowly braced
For light soon
To emerge.

When your home
Packs away
On your feet
In your bags,
The entire
Wide world
Is your glorious
Backyard.

Head up high
Glint in eye
Naga guards
Path to sky
Lest passers by
Go awry.

For we owe
Them to know
How rows of woe
Not long ago
Came to show
What can grow
If we do not forgo
Those who kowtow
To the lowest of low.
