Gentle Giant

Hello Mom

I have come

To help with

The clothes.

Can you see

Just how gentle

I am being

With those?

I did not bite a hole

Heel or toe

In the socks.

Nothing like

What I’d done

To the new

Garden hose.

A House’s Prayer

Abandoned Bodey State Park PhilipCoons

Photo: Philip Coons

Empty window

Recalls

Days of voice,

Filled up halls.

Rocking chair

Holds the space

For creaky floors

Under pace.

Tattered curtains

Still long

For a hand

To belong.

The old house

Holds its breath.

When time spins

Back again,

They will come back.

Amen.

A Challenge To Pick

When faced with

This-is-just-impassable,

The oh-too-dangerous,

And far-too-far

To pull out from;

One step

And then

A careful second,

With a resolute pick

And sturdy rope,

Will help lock arms

With trembling courage,

To climb you out

Of hazard’s maw.

Revisiting Tranquility

As cooler days strip the grass

Into brown freezer spots,

Recall days of lush summer

Full of green sunny lots.

Take a breath

Of warm memory,

Hold the story

It told.

It will return

When the weather,

Meanders back from

The cold.

Heart Memories

Kathtyn and Carol Jan08

Good friends to me,

To each other,

Their hearts and souls

Brimming love.

A decade passed

Since this photo,

And both had grown

Angel wings.

Sweet moments

Of memories

That won’t ever

Depart.

Dedicated to Kathryn and Carol, forever thankful to have known you. You are forever in my heart.
