Partake in all that
Fills your heart
And makes your spirit
Sing.
In all that makes
This world
Your home
And offers
Hope
To bring.

As the gavel rises
To speak justice
Let the rule of law
Preside,
So not even an executive
Who feels they own
The rights for pride,
Can by claims of faux and fury
Dismiss
What they would rather hide,
When truth well knows
By sheer behavior
Schemes and snide,
That he had far too often
Lied
And it is past time he be
Tried.

What makes you, the real you?
What holds truth to your being?
How do you separate
Masks and screens
From true seeing?
In the search to find you,
What peels off
What is freeing?
Do you take on the journey?
Would it matter yet still
To find out
Or accept
That you’re all of it
Whole,
And besides it some more
Guaranteeing?

Ah the copious talent
Mother Earth herself lent
To the hues and the flavors
In plenteous heft.

Live your life
Alongside
Everything
That matters.
Let light flow
In lines parallel
To heart
And mind.
We are all of us
One of a kind,
All singular
In presence.
Yet we are none of us
An isolation,
None free from impact
On what there is
And all that will become.
May we ride
This shared Earth
Side by side.
May we align
Our spirit
To be
Kind.

(Dedicated with a hug to a little dude in a mood … )
You fret
You toss
You turn
You snooze.
You pray your team
Won’t ever
Lose.
You wake up
Early
Hear the news.
You shout
You cry
You read reviews.
Time for some
Pancakes
To sweeten
Blues …

She huffed and she puffed and she stomped her small feet. She whined and she cried and she kicked the car seat. She refused to wear shoes, threw her coat on the ground. Made sure everyone heard her for miles around. She tossed food on the floor. Then asked for some more … Like a kid on a mission for the spoiled child edition.
Evening came.
Gramma called.
Mama handed the phone.
“Tell me now, little one, what on earth’s going on?”
“I’m a crank,” the child said in response. “Now Mama’s tired, all on my own.”

Flowers burst
From the ground
Green shoots sprout
All around
Birds a-chirp
Trills abound
As Spring is finally
Inbound.

Let us deplete
The harm
The hate
So more room’s left
To tolerate
The differences
We may create
As we attempt
To integrate
Beliefs well overdue
Update.

Even in chaos
Where foul mouths and ill deeds offer little beyond
Spin and mope,
You can find and define many glimmers
Of hope:
In the smiles of a child,
In the buds that push up from a freshly thawed ground,
In expanding delight of inquiring minds,
In the light that reflects from a window just shined,
In the wriggling joy of a pup under hand,
In humanity’s goals that your heart understands,
Your soul now demands,
And your words and your acts and your vote get behind.
