Photo: Na’ama Yehuda
In the moment of the soft swell
Of a calm curl,
The gentle foam
Belays the power of
The waves that lift ocean liners
And cradle whales.
A breath
Before
Exhale.
Thank you, Terri, for this prompt. Perfect for today. For me, the shore is the ultimate calibrator. I took this photo in Ogonquit, Maine, quite too many years ago. Time to go back. Time to go to the beach. Any beach. For breath, for awe, for space, for zen.
For Sunday Stills: Essence of Zen

🙂 So glad you liked it! That photo does little justice to the actual place, but it still settles me every single time!

Wonderful! Our Florida guest room awaits you, and Daisy promises to paw through your suitcase upon arrival. The sugar sand and shells, and the egrets and pelicans are just moments away…

“Belays the power of The waves that lift ocean-liners” Love that line. I always stood in awe of the sea. Lovely poem, Na’ama.

Thank you, John! Yes, the ocean is both mighty and delicate. I am always in awe of it. And … its heartbeat is my instant grounding.

YEAH, me three!!!
I really miss the ocean/beach/shore when I don’t get to it for too long. It’s time. Certainly past time …
So glad you liked this — the photo does not do the actual scenery there justice, but it captures some of the magic, and that is (for me at least) visceral already.

Love the photo. Always love sea photos. And I liked that you refer to the sea *breathing*; that’s been my impression for an awful long count of days.

So glad you like the photo — it is one of my absolute favorites. And … what else can we call what the ocean is doing? 🙂

🙂 Now, I just have to get there … perhaps later this week, if only to Brighton Beach.

I know, right?!!! I have me a (mild but nagging) case of BDD (Beach Deprivation Dysphoria …) 😉

Mine is not so mild…

(I call it “Mild” because that is more socially acceptable and less likely to have someone call the people in white with the straitjackets to take me someplace … In actuality, it’s pretty serious and needs immediate treatment … as in, sometime this week … ;)). XOXO

Well then. You totally understand my need.

(and I promise to not call the people in white with straitjackets on you, either … 😉 ) Sounds like the both of us need a dose of Beach.

I am past the point of need…

Oh no! Should I reconsider my promise re: the people in white … 😉 Or shall we do an intervention to help you problem solve toward some Beach?

I will take option two, please…
