There will not be another night so drenched in sorrow, bereft of even the wish for the downpour to turn hope. Yet they held to the moment right before the speeding motorbike intersected their car … and bled their child to no more.

Fatefully Furrowed

“What did this?”

Calvin gulped.

“What?!” Eric insisted. “A jeep?”

“Not a car.”

“What then?”

“We better turn back.”

Eric squinted at the muddy furrows.

“Nothing you want to meet in the dark,” Calvin shuddered and revved the motorcycle’s engine.

Mountain Charm

They did not need a rink when the lake made one for them. They did not have a coach but their skates learned to guide them. They were one with the ice as the pucks flew around them. They played in the cold while the old mountain charmed them.
