She refused to budge
Or borrow.
She would not allow herself
The slightest
Reach.
“If it ain’t broke,” she said,
Hiding sorrow –
Holding on to life
In tatters
Yet refusing to
Give in even
A stitch –
“There is no need to seek
A fix.”
For the dVerse quadrille challenge: Fix
I love this, Na’ama. Coulda used it for my MIL!!

I like to think so.
I was looking at that quadrille prompt, considering doing it. We’ll see.

Deep character study in 44 words, Na’ama. I’ve known people like her. I’ve been people like her. Well-done.

Thank you, my friend. Many of us know people like her, and some of us admit to being a little like her, at least some of the time about some of the things … Here’s to mirrors.

Thank you … and … I think maybe more of us had been this – or will be this, or both – at least some of the time … 🙂

I love the rhyme pattern in this. This was my parents, to a T. If it could be fixed, we did NOT buy a new one!

I’m glad you liked it!
And … I think it probably is a lot of people, to some degree, some more literally than others (you should see my dinosaur TV … it is one of those that has a slot for a VCR and another for a DVD … and it works. And I’m keeping it and using it. Because it works. So there.) 😉

Thank you, Helen! I’m glad you do. I’m a tad worried for her, but it seems like she knows what she needs and what is right for her at the moment … so that has to do … 😉

I think that keeping everything inside like that will build up some pressure…. can’t be good.

Yeah … can’t be good … though for some, this may be the only way they know how to be …

This poem I read twice, like a second glance into the mirror. I’m sure we’ve all been there at some point, or with some type of something that in reality needs fixing. Stubbornness often becomes a barrier.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Mish. Yes, I think we have all been there in one way or another, about one thing or another. ….
