Listen to the sound
Of children
Playing
Under the careful
Eye
Of matriarchs,
And the friable
Hold
Of the world suspended
By a thread.
Perhaps there is no
Safer
Sentinel
Than a wise grandmother’s trunk
Lifting
The future
Over her head.

Oh, that mural is fantastic and I loved your verse with it. What a perfect post for Mother’s Day too Na’ama!

🙂 Thanks, Tina! My niece took this photo in Berlin and I love it! There is so much in it, not the least of it being the child swinging himself on the bar at the bottom of the photo, and all the proportions besides.
How lovely that you also picked up on the Mother’s Day connotation! 🙂
YAY.
Thanks!
Na’ama
