Like the goddess of the rainbow
You stand tall
In every hue,
And lend credence to the story
That it’s gorgeous
To be you.

In the deep chill of winter
It got caught en route
To a squirreled away
Acorn nuts loot.
Dedicated with love to my Southern Hemisphere friends, on this solstice day.

Globe Thistle (Photo: Amitai Asif)
It is prickly
It is fine
It is purple
And divine!

Don’t be fooled by the blush
Or swan’s head
In a bow
Strength does not always show
But do not try to
Chow
There is more to this beauty
Than what meets
The eye
Even if in first glance
She appears to be
Shy.
Fun Fact: The tuber of this flower is semi-poisonous. Fishermen would grate it, mix it with water and lime, and sprinkle the mixture in lakes and ponds to stun the fish so they would rise to the surface to be collected.

Like the breeze
Licking yarn
Like the trees
Upon sand
Like the dock
Seeking sun
Let the lines
Run right through
From the heart
To beyond.

Flowers burst
From the ground
Green shoots sprout
All around
Birds a-chirp
Trills abound
As Spring is finally
Inbound.

The sun
Has barely peeked out
Yet blooms have
Sprung up
Overnight
In rush to fuel
Nectar
With light.

Harbingers of feast
Or famine
Inhabitants
Of all
But the Antarctic ice,
These carriers of fire
From the gods to land,
Teach city folk
And country dwellers
That one can make a home,
Find plenty,
All around.

As they rode through the smoke, through the night, to the light
Amidst trees, atop hooves, in the saddle upright
Sun kissed heads, offered heart, till homecoming delight.

The Canadian Rockies (Photo: Ronit Koren)
In the magnificence of mountains
Hewed from sky
Calved by glaciers
Raised by heaving earth
Aged by wind
Shorn by storms,
Awe is
Born.
