It was going to be the thing
To make all things
Everything that they were meant
To be.
A remedy
For all the wants
And dreams.

His mother said.
And crushed his dream
Instead.

Amen to that! Some kids manage to do that, if not then and there, later on when they realize that their parents’ words come from the parent’s own weakness, not from an actual domination over the world and its possibilities …

Thank you, Rochelle … glad you still ‘liked’ it anyway … 😉 And, yes, parents are all-knowing and all-capable in the eyes of small children, and their words can bolster, or crush. Many children manage to find footing regardless, but it is a hard road to take when one’s very foundation was undermined.
