It was going to be the thing

To make all things

Everything that they were meant

To be.

A remedy

For all the wants

And dreams.

“Ah, but you will surely bungle it,”

His mother said.

And crushed his dream

Instead.

    • Amen to that! Some kids manage to do that, if not then and there, later on when they realize that their parents’ words come from the parent’s own weakness, not from an actual domination over the world and its possibilities …

    • Thank you, Rochelle … glad you still ‘liked’ it anyway … 😉 And, yes, parents are all-knowing and all-capable in the eyes of small children, and their words can bolster, or crush. Many children manage to find footing regardless, but it is a hard road to take when one’s very foundation was undermined.
