It seems as though you are still summer:
The leaves still green atop your trees
Waves still warm inside your eyes
Sunrise haze in your sky
Sunset late to bed
As sleep lights in
Your soft breath
Upon
Mine.
NONET prompt: “It seems as though you are still summer” (Merwin)
For dVerse poetic 9
Airy, lighthearted, and warm.

Yay! Thank you! 🙂 T’was a fun one. Am actually off to your page to read yours — I saw you did this prompt and I thought, “ohhhhhhhhhhhh” but I don’t read others’ till I’m done with mine so … 😉 ‘see ya’ soon!

Me three. Summer is my hands-down-favorite season. I tolerate the rest, even enjoy bits of them and all that, but I’d take summer all over again. 🙂

An excellent Nonet, winding down to that last gasp at a single syllable. Before the wildfires out here, summer had been glorious. It’s still in the 70’s, but smoke smothers the sun.

Yes, I know … 😦 I have friends on the West Coast, some of whom have been evacuated, others who may be any moment, many who are struggling to breathe if they as much as open a window. 😦 I’m sorry you are in it, too! Sending good air and some fresh rain in just the right amount …

Yes, sweet romantic imagery of the season as lover (or the lover as season).

I love the way you compare a loved one to summer, Na’ama, especially the ‘Waves still warm inside your eyes’.

Lovely! This makes me think of a gorgeous warm summer evening when everything slows down and you just linger, enjoying the warm air and the last moments of sunshine!

Yeah! 🙂 (and a sigh, because I already know I’m gonna miss those … Summer is my absolute favorite season … and … and … )

Me too! We’ve just one last burst of warm weather and it is starting to feel a bit autumnal now. Which hopefully means lots of warm colours and deep sunsets around here 🙂

Well, I’m still holding hope that some of the chill in the air is from the smoke in the upper levels of the atmosphere clouding and hazing out sun … from the smokes of the West Coast fires, which has traveled across the continent to make itself known here and keep our sun veiled and the temps down … I want more summer!!!

Oh yes I have seen reports of the fires, it looks horrendous. People do not need that on top of everything else at the moment. But yes, I agree, more summer for me too please! I’ve woken up to think fog this morning…here comes autumn!

It’s been very cool around here (for the time of year). I. Am. Not. Ready! 😉

Oh no, I’ve had enough. I want the softer days of autumn… though I don’t want them to pass too fast

Your poetry struck a chord this morning … as we here in Central Oregon battle smoke and blaze. A lovely write.

Thank you, Helen! All of my friends – and people I don’t know but who could be friends … – on the West Coast have been in my thoughts, and we have a smidgen of it in NYC, from the haze covering the sun and lowering out temps because of smoke in the upper atmosphere having traveled across the continent to make itself known here. Stay safe, and know you are in our thoughts and we are all – literally – in it together. Sending clean air your way …

This was wonderful, Na’ama. Summer is lovely and I do enjoy it but now that it is coming to a close, I look forward to sweaters and comfort food… like bread 😉

I’m cool with the bread stuff, but can we have more summer, please? I’m SO not ready!!!

Sorry, hun. I know you love summer and the stifling heat. But part of the charm of living in an area with four seasons… IS the four seasons!!

Sigh. Yeah. Well, I’m gonna be making some of my ‘fall collection’ masks – from FLANNEL. So that’ll make things cozy … 😉
