Ice Cream Tim

Tim had a serious thing

For

Ice cream.

No matter the flavor

It was something

He’d favor.

His mama thought it

Extreme

To hold a lone food

Supreme,

So she came up with

A scheme

That worked wonders on

Tim:

Every new food she’d

Mix right into the

Ice cream.

So she fixed it with okra

And kale

And some beans,

And added an olive

And handfuls of

Greens,

And for his dessert

Even mashed in

Sardines.

And the boy ate the lot

Smiling full to the

Brim.

It was not until college

He caught on to the

Theme.

For RDP Sunday: Ice Cream

  1. Errrhhh. Somewhat like my mother hiding foods I didn’t like in my mashed potato. Still didn’t like them. Put me off potatoes too. Maybe she did it with icecream too cos I don’t like that, not unto this day

    • Oh-oh … I knew Tim’s mama was up to no good … Fortunately it seems Tim’s taste buds were nonexistent … but I totally get the annoyance (and the betrayal, almost) of having foods one does not like, sneaked into foods one loves. At least not as a practice …
But, oy to not liking ice-cream! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

      • Yeah, I have a friend who cannot stand the texture and temp of ice-cream, and never understood the lure of it. They find it overall too rich and too sweet.
I do like ice cream, but I’m picky about which ones I can have more than a bite or two of. The very rich ones are not enjoyable for me and I tend to prefer the milk-based ones over the cream-based ones, or sorbet over too-rich ice-cream.
As people say, to each their own … and we’ll leave the sardines ice cream to Tim … ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • ๐Ÿ˜€ Just comes to show, people are not all cut from the same cloth, and we should each have space for our taste preferences whenever possible. Here’s to yummy foods, whichever ones they are for any one of us! (I know a toddler who prefers pickles and broccoli to cookies or chocolate, and it is just as well, perhaps, health-wise!)
