She’ll refuse, for she must,
The order
To adjust.
She will hold up the laws
And go forth
Just because.
She will not, not today,
Bow to cults
Or obey.
She’ll refuse, for she must,
In her own heart
Have trust.
For the dVerse poetry challenge: Order
What a delightful and empowering verse, thanks!

Kudos to “her”, and to you for empowering her. It is the century for Women, no m\ore backsliding or berkas.

No more oppression to any of the oppressed. Indeed, it is time to end cultism and radicalism and the powers that seek to subvert and diminish so they can maintain theirs. For hunger for power knows no religion, knows no borders, knows no political range.

A beautiful statement of independence! Authenticity is above order in others.

Especially if the “order” is not congruous with the person ordered into it … and when there’s little flexibility for the person’s own order of priorities and truth …

Yes, no one likes to be boxed into a pattern they have not say in choosing.

Exactly. Let alone if those orders are for others’ power, not for the ordered-person’s well-being.

Nice sound. I like the trust needed at the end.

Thank you, Frank. Without trust in oneself it is difficult to resist what one does not agree with…

This fits snugly into “to thine own self be true.” First and always. All the rest follows.

I enjoyed this mantra almost of constructing order for oneself instead of orders. A unique take on the prompt – than you for joining

Thanks, Laura! Glad you liked it. We all need some order … though perhaps this does not need to mean following all of others’ orders … especially when those aren’t congruent with our hearts … 🙂

A great write. Tight and crisp. It’s all based on trust, isn’t it?

Very much so, isn’t it? 🙂 Thanks for the great comment!

Ah, but we can aspire … and some of us, in some ways, maybe are …

This was as if spoken from the true heart of a rebel!! I enjoyed it very much.

Well, not such a big rebel, me, but certainly not a retiring wall flower, either … 🙂 Glad you liked it.
