And so she stood
Among the rocks
That piled,
A pyre of life’s debris,
Like so much refuse
Of what had
Once been
Beloved goals.
And so she sang,
The words still raw
Against her lips,
Her livid
Scar of
Soul.
The song, she knew,
Was more than
A sum
Of her whole,
And beyond any meaning
Voice could
Hold.
And so she stood
Amidst the wreckage
Of her faith
Atop the middling shards
Of hope.
And she recalled
The seeds long planted
In her core,
Beneath the thickets
Of lost calls,
Awaiting, perhaps,
This very annihilation
As invitation
To grow bold.
(Dedicated to all who are feeling broken. May they find the seeds within their core. And grow bold.)
For Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Song in 102 words
Na’ama Y’karah,
Hopefully she’s able to accept the invitation. An evocative poem full of emotion and determination. Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thank you Rochelle.
I hope so, too. A few women I know are feeling especially broken these days. One of them sings, and the prompt led itself to this … as is often the case with such things.
Off to read yours …
Hugs

It is not only women who feel broken. Finding the seeds is the key to becoming whole.

Indeed …. which is why I dedicated it to all who feel broken. We all need to find a way (back or for the first time) into being whole.

Brilliant stuff. I can relate to it. All my usual hobbies and proje ts have either finished or got so boring I can’t face them. Something new/ancient is stirring.

Thank you my friend! Sometimes we have to let the stuff be shed and find a new (or lost) seed to nurture…

Grow bold…what a lovely mantra, it adds some zest to life and makes us strong!

🙂 Growing bold is a good thing, yes. Especially good for women, who so often are told boldness is aggressive or unattractive or unfeminine. … Growing bold is none of those things. It is strength, wisdom, and being grounded in what is right for oneself.
I’m all for it!

This was fantabulous, Na’ama
(And funny, you are reading mine as I’m reading yours!)
Yes. May we be bold enough to not only hold ourselves together but to move forward and create new amidst the rubble.

Wow, a powerful poem. The repeating, And so she stood… and so she sang evokes a strength and determination. I think a phoenix is rising.

I think, Avery, that you are absolutely spot on correct! May all the phoenixes — those who know it about themselves and those who hid the knowledge in one of those seeds in their core — find their inner-phoenix … and grow bold!

Here is a powerful anthem to the heartbreak mixing with the defiance and the determination. You’ve captured something which needs to be heard over and over again in these sad times.

Thank you, and … yes, we have that very mixed salad of emotions and strength and vulnerability available to us in times of crisis … Sometimes more readily available (or more readily present in awareness) than other times, but always there. Because the seeds of core are there, too, and the possibility of growing bold, as well.
May there be consolation and soothing for any who need them.
Lovely comment!

Hugs, sympathy and empathy, for you never know when you will need them.

Thank you! I am okay myself, but am not averse to ‘storing’ some “hugs, sympathy and empathy” for a possible too-rainy day. …
