Thank you! I do adore freckles. Am not quite so freckled as the photo I put with the poem, but I’ve got my share, and I love them all (even those my dermatologist decides to remove… ) 😉

Ah, Crispina, thank you! I adore mine, but I know many don’t like their freckles — one of my nieces used to bemoan her (adorable!!!) freckles, but I think she’d made peace with them since … 🙂

I remember as kids my sister had freckles. But I’m sure she hasn’t got any now. Perhaps they need exposure to sun…

Freckles do ‘come out more’ in the sun — I have a lot more that are visible in summer than in winter. But I think the underlying ‘tendency’ for freckles is there regardless. Some people might ‘grow out of them,’ I suppose. I happen to keep mine until such time that my dermatologist lays an eye on one that took a turn … and then it’s ‘out’ FOREVER … 😉

You began your quadrille so well with a list of three verbs that rhyme beautifully and evoke freckles without the word even being mentioned and then brought it to a crescendo with the simile:
‘Like galaxies
Of reversed light
Upon the expanse
Of skin’
and the metaphor:
‘A freckled
Symphony
Of brown and gold’.

As a freckled-face kid, I appreciate your poem all the more. Mine seem to have diminished, not by any choice of my own, mind you… I always liked them!

I’m pretty freckled myself. Not quite like the photo in the post, but certainly freckled … (and it keeps my dermatologist VERY busy these days … ;)). I adore freckles. 🙂
