She will not become a mannequin.
Her mother may have images of what a daughter looks like.
Her father may hold his of what she must not, at any cost, resemble.
Her teachers may believe she found bad friends.
Her brothers had supplied them.
To all she says –
In mind if not in volume –
That she will not become,
A mannequin.
She will find her own way.
Her look.
Her path.
Her mirrors.
Enough already lost,
As childhood magic
Left,
And stripped
Her life austerer.

Rah Rah! For her. It takes great strength to forge one’s own path.

Yes! It sure does! And most of us take many years to realize we CAN forge our own. So anyone who figures this out early, is a head of the curve!

Ah, one hopes! I find there are two kinds of role models, those we wish to be like, who are real Role Models, and those we are adamant to NOT become … who are ‘role-models’ for what NOT to be … 😉

Exactly! It is great when one actually has a choice…

Very true! Which is why we never know what influence we may have (for the good, one hopes) on children around us. Whether they are ‘family’ or not, they see, they learn, and they may find that there are options they weren’t shown before. For the better. xoxo
