In his arrogance he sees
Himself reflected
In everything.
All positive is commandeered as his
Achievement,
Any negative is protested as
Insult to
Him,
To the supposedly undisputed
Glory
Of his being.
In his hubris he
Expects only effusive
Praise.
He demands fealty in all
Things.
Admiration to any idea he
Hijacks
To claim it was never invented
Prior to the mighty of
Him.
In his presumption he feeds on
Adoration
And punishes
All critic
As wounding the belief in
Him.
In his arrogance
He sees only,
Appreciates only,
Allows only what feeds
Him.

For Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Hubris in 94 words
A good take. Everyone’s doing such good takes. Humph. Maybe inspiration yet will come.

Oh well, want us to ‘lend you’ our daily source of hubris for a few hours (you can keep him, really, but I don’t think you’d want to), so you’ll get inspired up closer? π

Well, at the risk of not being original, I do have my idea… Am making myself a coffee and getting to it.

Yay! I’m getting my coffee ready (second cup of weekend leisure) and will be delighted to read what you post when it’s ready! XO

PS hubris ain’t original. It is boring and predictable. So there’s that.

Narcissism is painful to watch. It’s the black-hole of neediness.

Indeed it very much is painful to watch, and eventually quite painful (and for most people, unsustainable) to be in the vicinity of.
