He does not like the new way the kitchen’s been done.
He does not like the curtains she’d chosen.
He cares naught for the way she turned the couch around
Or how she leaves the garage door open.
He will never get used to the stuff on her nails.
He detests hosting all of those book clubs.
He’s did not want his Foosball exiled downstairs
Or pink bottles to take over the bathtub.
Some days he thinks it had been better before
She showed up to give life a stir,
But she does make him laugh and he cannot ignore
The fact that he’s just nuts about her.
For Linda Hill’s SoCS prompt: Nuts
Very good, Na’ama.

🙂 I had a particular ‘long suffering’ friend of mine in mind. He grouches, but he’s nuts about his wife. 🙂

Seems inconsistant but I guess it could be.

🙂 One would think so, right? And yet … there they are 25 years later …

This is somewhat relatable. Don’t we all have things we don’t like about our lovers, but then again we’re nuts about them so we stick with them anyway?

Sounds pretty much like it is … 😉

Cannot live with them, or without them, it seems…

I don’t think he wants to live without her … Foosball table in the basement and all … 😉

Familiar elements there. The inconvenience of having a woman convenient on hand. 🙂

Ha! Didn’t think of this angle of it … The inspiration case for this (friends of mine) are very very much in love with each other, even after many years together (or exactly because of many years together) – I think they put up with each other’s quirks and groan about it sometimes, but would not have it any other way … 🙂

Such is often the case. If they’ve made it through the first few years. 🙂

Indeed … and if they got used to each other’s quirks and are committed to respecting each other, they’re gold.

I never made it. I think some people are better operating alone.

When we stop and think about it, none of those things matter when we’re in love. Very nice take on today’s prompt.

Thank you, Dan. When it comes to the most important things, indeed those are small matters … Mutual respect and acceptance of each other’s quirks are an excellent foundation for longtime success … 🙂
