They were drawn in, unsuspecting,
By tales of glory finally
Being restored,
From a manufactured time of
Old.
Then kept in even when doubting
To go on,
Stuck, as it were, in
The eye of a hate filled
Maelstrom.
Spun, they were,
In webs of lies.
To leave they would
Need to give up
Pretended lives.
For Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Maelstrom in 56 words

the word ‘maelstrom’ certainly fits the bill for these type of situations🙌

Thank you! And … yes, it does, doesn’t it? Oy. May more find their way out into light and fact …

Thank you, Sadje! Many who get sucked into ideology then face shaming and disowning (and sadly, even threats to their safety and the safety of their loved ones) if they dare question it, let alone turn away from it. A truly free society allows ideas and fluidity of ideas and change of views and checking of facts, without threatening those who diverge from the supposed one-way-or-the-highway ideology, and true freedom abhors violence. At least in my view.

I agree with you. As humans, we should be free to pursue ideas of our own choosing.

Yes! Without intimidation, or threats, or forcing one’s own ideology/religion/politics/idolization on another. Live and let live. Love and let love. Stay out of making decisions about other people’s autonomy over their bodies. Hold no one above the law. Seek inclusion, not exclusion. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. At least, that’s my perspective of how it best be.

Yay! While I realize not everyone would agree, and while I respect people’s right to disagree … I sure do love being agreed with. 😀
