“It is not acceptable, you see, when they forget the main …”
“…complements.” Ingrid completed.
“Indeed.” Iris’s gray head bobbed emphatically, loose bun nodding and escapee wisps trailing.
Ingrid touched a hand to her own hair, confirming the tightness of her French braid. All was in order. Good. Iris has always been unbecomingly lax with locks’ management and Ingrid could never understand it. Especially not when Iris was so particular about her condiments’ orderly array.
“I’ll get the hot sauce, then.” Iris turned toward the diner’s kitchen. “And have them hand me some mustard and mayo, while they’re at it.”
For Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers
Na’ama Y’karah,
Many compliments to Ingrid’s hair but not to Iris’ loose locks. But to be fair to Iris, compliments to her finely arranged complement of condiments. Pass the salt, please. Savory story indeed, my friend.
Shalom,
Rochelle

I shall not even attempt to come close to Rochelle’s perfect response!
I shall just say I’m loose with my hair and my table placement 😉 Too tight and tidy bugs me 😉

LOL, and … well my hair WON’T tidy.
As a principle …
Also, we neither of us wanna mess with Rochelle! 🙂
xoxo to ya both!

Haha! Neither will mine, mostly because I am too lazy to place it in the first place.
And no, no messing with Ms Rochelle!
xoxo to you, too!

You planted a picture of a strange pairing, yet that is life

Very much so, isn’t it? A friend of mine swears that mayo and ketchup should NEVER be placed anywhere NEAR each other … 😉

Very often, eh? 😉 Like, wanting to tuck some stray hairs off of someone’s face so these not swim in their sunny-side-up eggs … 😉

When I was working, or when I’m going out to face the public, I try to tame my hair into some kind of order. Here at home, though? Not so much. I do, however, like my condiments et.al. to be in some sort of order 🙂

Ah yes, to have hair to worry about. I’d even take high & tight. I wonder what that’s like.
Cute story and the word play is wonderful. Nice one, Na’ama.

Condiments & hair-plaiting. These will ever remain associated in my mind, now. Not sure I want to say thank you, but I did enjoy the read

I like your fun couple of Ingrid and Iris. I hope we get some more stories about them! The little everyday niggles can play out in so many different ways.

🙂 Glad you liked them! They do rather grow on one, don’t they? Niggles and all. 😉

I think I’m with Ingrid, not too fussed about my hair and especially as I get older I can’t be too bothered, but I understand the orderly condiments. Lovely story and so nicely written as always, Na’ama! 🙂

Yep, me more like Ingrid than Iris, too. My hair is not-much-of-a-bother and does not bother me that much … 😉 Hot-sauce, however, is a serious business … 😉
